MediaMarkt is a German consumer-electronics retail chain founded in 1979 in Munich by Leopold Stiefel, Walter Gunz, and Erich and Helga Kellerhals. Its original store relied on a format new to German electronics retail at the time - large floor space, a broad selection, and low prices.

The chain has since grown to more than 800 stores across 13 countries, combining physical markets with the mediamarkt.de online shop, which also hosts third-party marketplace sellers.

MediaMarkt grants a voluntary 30-day return window (extending the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal) counted from the day goods are received. Returns can be made in-store, by post, or - for large appliances - via freight carrier. Sealed goods excluded from return for hygiene or health reasons, as well as sealed audio/video recordings or software, cannot be returned once the seal has been broken.
